For nine years, I served as president & CEO of Grantmakers in the Arts, a national association of private and public funders. Our programs focused on many funding and nonprofit arts sector issues but spent a great deal of energy on the four top funding areas relevant to our members: 1) arts education 2) support for individual artists 3) financial health of the nonprofit sector - capitalization and 4) racial equity in arts philanthropy. These topics and others, some responding to events and some discussing basic philanthropic and/or nonprofit management, were the basis for my Better Together blogs published from 2009-2017.
